  Installation Dinner - 26 June 2007

The Miner's Cafe was buzzing with fellowship and conversation at our third annual installation dinner. A great turnout and a great evening.
  Orchard Work party - 18 March

A large work party turned out to clean up and burn at the orchard. The weather was great, the sun shone and President Dave prepared his gourmet hot dogs for lunch. Great fun and fellowsip. Two new, family apple trees were dedicated. One purchased by Dave Muir and Linda Oprica; the other by Bruce and Georgina Kehler.
  Anatol's Parents Visit

Stefan and Sabena Gudenas arrived from Austria on 16 March to spend a week with their son Anatol, our RYE student for 2006-2007.
  Defibrillator Presentation - 10 March 2007

A public awareness event involving the presentation of two portable defibrillators was held in the Cumberland Presentation Centre
  Heritage Fair and Lantern Sales - 17 February 2007

During the day the club displayed a collage of its projects and answered questions for the public. In the evening, we sold lanterns and provided control for the foot parade
  Beach Party - 10 February 2007

Social Director Dodie organized the event and Linda and Dave generously hosted us.
  14 January 2007 - Orchard Work party

A few members gathered for about 3 hours of work cleaning up the orchard and piling the debris in preparation for a fire.
  Extravaganza Italiana - 2006

Our second annual Italian Dinner and Auction was held on 14 October in Cumberland. We raised more than $30,000.00!
  Cumberland Lodge Project

On Staurday, 21 October, 2006, a work party of Rotarians assembled and installed an automatic watering system for the hanging baskets and flower beds in the patio area used by Lodge Residents.

  Daffodils in the Apple Orchard

Three families paid purchased the right to sponsor an apple tree each in the cumminty orchard at our auction on 15 October and attended a planting of daffodil bulbs by Rotarians around each of the trees on 22 October.

  Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock 28 Sep 2005

The club prepared food and drinks for the public in return for donations ($500+ received)for Tour de Rock. Dave Stevens' challenge to President Mac to have his head shaved, which was picked up by John and Peg, raised $2,131.75!
  Rotary Tribute Gardens

Following the successful, Rotary-sponsored campaign held on Fathers Day to raise awareness and funds for ALS patient services and research, Julie Spooner, one of the ALS campaign volunteers, came up with the idea of establishing gardens in Comox and Courtenay, planted with flowers representing the many societies that raise funds and provide services to patients afflicted with a number of diseases. Each bed will be planted with: red and white carnations representing the Multiple Sclerosis Society; white chrysanthemums representing the Diabetes Society; blue forget-me-nots representing the Alzheimer Society; yellow daffodils representing the Canadian Cancer Society; blue iris representing the Schizophrenia Society, mixed tulips for the Parkinsons Society and blue cornflowers representing the ALS Society.
  Charter Celebration Night - 7 June

The club received its charter at the District Conference in Duncan, BC on Friday, 3 June 2005 from Rotary International President 2005-2006, Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar. The event was celebrated in Cumberland on 7 June in the presence of a large crowd of Rotarians, spouses and friends. Donations of cash , banners, flags, a bell, a Rotary roots chart tracing our club all the way back to Club One, name tags, charter-member pins and other material needed by a Rotary club were provided by many generous individuals and clubs in our District. Rotarian Bent Harder of Courtenay and Cumberland Rotarian Keith Tatton donated sufficient funds for a surgerical procedure by Rotaplast volunteers. Chip Ross was recognized for this work as the DG's Special Representative with the presentation of a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow pin. A great evening of Rotary spirit!
  Rotary Orchard Restoration

As its first project, the club began a restorative pruning of an old orchard to create an attractive picnic and leisure location in the old village
